In an appalling incident, a couple committed suicide after an argument over chicken in dinner in Rajepur village of Kheri district on Tuesday. The couple was parents to three children.
As per the police, on Tuesday evening the man came home in a drunk state and asked his wife to cook chicken for him, but when she refused due to Navratri, he went to the kitchen and started making it himself. This led to an argument between the two and the wife consumed poison. Later when the husband realized his mistake, he too ended his life by consuming poison.
The man named Anand Vihari Verma (50) was married to Phoolmati around 30 years ago and the couple had three children- two sons and one daughter. Their daughter Sheelu (26) is married while both brothers are employed in other districts.
Sheelu revealed that she received a call from his father on Tuesday informing that her mother has committed suicide by consuming poison and he too is going to end his life. Sheelu informed her uncle who lives in the neighborhood to go and see her father. She also rushed to the village.
Sheelu’s uncle along with some neighbors rushed the couple to the hospital where Phoolmati was declared dead on arrival while the man died in the course of the treatment.
The bodies of the couple were handed over to the children after an autopsy on Wednesday. It was very shocking to see the couple dead for the neighbors as they used to live normally and there were no fights between them.
