Meerut: Tensions rose in a Saharanpur locality after a 26-year-old youth was beaten to death. Police have registered case against four persons on the complaint filed by youth’s family.

The incident took place late Thursday night when according to a, Shoaib had gone to meet the woman. “Shoaib had gone to meet the woman when he was caught. He was brutally beaten up by the family members of the woman and succumbed to injuries in a hospital”, said senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar Prabhu as quoted by the report. Shoaib allegedly killed by the family members of the woman as he was having an affair with, according to a TOI report.

Family of the deceased came to the streets to hold a mass protest. They placed the body of the deceased on the Delhi-Saharanpur highway and for hours blocked the traffic, demanding compensation and immediate arrest of the culprit behind the incident. Following this, the police assured strict action.

“An FIR has been lodged by Shahid, brother of the deceased,” against four people, Babloo Singh Verma, in charge of Rampur Maniharan police station in Saharanpur said. He further added, “We are conducting raids to nab them but so far no arrests have been made”.

Heavy police force has been deployed in the area after tensions continue to remain high. The body was handed back to the family after the post-mortem was conducted.
