Uttar Pradesh: Notes worth Rs 4.26 lakh with same serial numbers dispensed from 5 ATMs

The company has examined all the ATMs of the bank in the city for 20 days and has recovered 213 fake notes of Rs 2000 from five ATMs.

Lucknow: Fake currency notes worth Rs 4.26 lakh have been recovered from 5 ATMs of a private bank in different parts of the city. On the bank’s direction, the company conducted an audit recently and from that audit the recovery of the fake notes took place.

The bank received complaints from the customers that some ATMs were giving out fake currency notes of denomination Rs 2000 and in reaction to which the bank asked the company to conduct an audit.

CMS Infosystem Limited who launched the audit registered an FIR with Vibhuti Khand police station against unidentified persons charging them of possessing and trafficking counterfeit currency.

The police state that the company has tie-ups with several banks to renovate ATMs. Also, the company has examined all the ATMs of the bank in the city for 20 days and has recovered 213 fake notes of Rs 2000 from five ATMs. They were recovered from Jankipuram, Sarojininagar, Kalyanpur, and Daliganj. All the notes had the same serial numbers.

ASP North said that the police is scanning the CCTV footages of the ATMs to catch hold of the culprits.

The branch manager of CMS Infosystem Limited said that they have provided all details and documents to the police to investigate and the person who is involved in this should be punished. He also added that we are helping the police and expect the matter to get resolved soon.
