2018 has been a delight for the tech giant Microsoft. Washington, United States situated company not only became the most valuable company in the world but their latest operating system Windows 10 became the most popular desktop based operating system on the planet. Windows 10 surpassed one of Microsoft’s very own Windows 7 by the end of the year 2018.
According to the data shared by netmarketshare website, 2.3 percent users more are currently on Windows 10 Operating System in comparison to Windows 7. Windows 10 was released in 2015 and took more than three years to surpass its predecessor. Netmarketshare reveals that as many as 39.2 percent of the total desktops in the world use Windows 10 in December 2018.
The company will seize its extended support for Windows 7 in January 2020.
Earlier Microsoft had leaped over Apple after spending 8 years below the California based multinational tech company. The software giant surpassed its arch-rival in terms of market capital. Microsoft had earlier planned of achieving a target of to bring its Windows 10 to a billion devices but fell short of it. Currently, Windows 10 run on over 0.7 billion devices.
During the festive month of December, 2018 the company was sending hidden gift cards along with their newsletters. According to a Reddit user, in the latest emails by Microsoft which came with a Christmassy theme, one could get a $10 worthy discount after they click on the Christmas trees placed in the company’s email newsletter.
