HISTORY OF WORLD LUPUS DAY
World Lupus Day was established by Lupus Canada in 2004 to raise awareness about the little-known disorder that can have devastating effects on sufferers and their families. It was organised by lupus organisations from thirteen countries, who urged their respective governments to increase funding for research, improve patient services, acquire more incidence rates, and raise awareness. The purpose of World Lupus Day is to raise awareness of the impact lupus has on people all over the world. The annual observance highlights the need for improved health care services, increased research and treatment for lupus, earlier care and management of lupus, and improved epidemiological data on lupus worldwide.
