At a pre-MWC launch event in Barcelona, Spain, Xiaomi unveiled a plethora of new global market products. The Chinese company has introduced the Xiaomi 13 series of smartphones, the Watch S1 Pro, MIUI 14, the Xiaomi CyberDog, and the CyberOne, among others. The Xiaomi 13 series includes the standard, pro, and lite variants. The first two debuted in China in December of last year, while the lite variant is a rebranded Xiaomi Civi 2.

The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are the successors to the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro from last year. They feature significant improvements over their predecessors, and the global variants share the same specifications as their Chinese counterparts.

Starting with the display, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro feature an AMOLED screen with an integrated fingerprint scanner and a center-aligned punch hole. Both devices feature a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG compatibility. The standard model has a 6.36-inch flat display with FHD+ resolution, while the Pro model has a 6.73-inch QHD+ display with curved edges.

In terms of design, the Xiaomi 13 has a boxy profile while the Pro variant has a slim profile. Both devices have a square camera module on the rear panel and are water- and dust-resistant to the IP68 standard. Using nano-skin technology, the back panels of the smartphones are reportedly easier to clean. In terms of audio, the Xiaomi 13 duo is equipped with Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers.

On the imaging front, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro feature Leica-branded triple rear cameras and imaging-enhancing technology from the legendary camera manufacturer. These features include Leica filters, a master-lens system with four focal lenses up to 75mm, HperOIS, and 4K recording, among others. The Pro model is equipped with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50MP primary lens and 50MP ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. The standard configuration includes a 50MP OIS-enabled Sony IMX800 sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. The Xiaomi 13 duo is equipped with a 16MP front-facing camera.

The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. A VC liquid cooling heat dissipation system is present onboard. The standard and pro models are powered by 4,500mAh and 4,820mAh batteries, respectively, with support for 67W and 120W wired charging. With the assistance of a Surge G1 charging protection chip, both phones offer support for 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 13 duo ships with the MIUI 14-based Android 13 operating system. The smartphones will receive Android OS updates for three years and security patches for five years. The devices feature 5G, 4G, WiFi-7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, IR Blaster, and a USB-C port for connectivity.

The colours available are Ceramic White and Ceramic Black. The standard model is also available in Flora Green paint. The former begins at EUR 999 for the 8GB + 256GB configuration, while the latter begins at EUR 1,299 for the 12GB + 256GB configuration. The cost of the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro’s 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage configurations has not been disclosed. The dates of availability and pricing will vary by region.
