The police on Tuesday arrested an Indian national who is suspected to be an ISIS operative. The man had been deported from Turkey twice and was recently arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital.

After US intelligence agency, CIA, informed the Indian police about his arrival, Shahjahan Velluva (32), was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. According to an official, he was being questioned about the other ISIS operatives and his links with them.

Velluva was deported from Turkey in February this year for allegedly carrying out terrorist activities there. Officials added that he subsequently got a fake passport with another identity.

His second attempt to enter Turkey with the fake passport was also foiled by the police there and he was deported to India.

The police said that more arrests were likely to be made in the case.
