A BJP worker has been arrested by police on Saturday for attacking Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi’s convoy while he was on visit to flood hit areas in Dhanera town of Banaskantha district, Gujarat on Friday.

The worker, identified as Jayesh Darji, was detained in Dhanera.

“We have arrested one person named Jayesh Darji alias Anil Rathod for allegedly throwing a stone at the vehicle in which Gandhi was travelling,” Banaskantha Superintendent of Police, Niraj Badgujar was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Congress party on Saturday accused the BJP and the RSS of being behind what it described as a “murderous attack” on Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat and claimed it was a “pre- planned” conspiracy. Rahul Gandhi also said the attack on his convoy was carried out by the BJP and RSS workers and this was Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the BJP’s way of politics.
