Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appointed Madan Mohan Jha, a member of the legislative council of Bihar as the new chief of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee. The post of BPCC president was vacant for more than a year after removal of Ashok Choudhary following the disintegration of the ‘grand alliance’ in July 2017 in which Congress was a constituent with the RJD and JD(U).
Madan Mohan Jha is a son of former education minister and senior Congress leader Nagendra Jha.
He was born on August 1, 1956.
He is a native of Meenagachhi village in Darbhanga district.
He is currently a member of state Legislative Council from the Teachers’ constituency.
He is the first Brahmin, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president after former CM Jagannath Mishra.
He started his political career from National Students Union Of India, a student wing of Congress.
He has been the member of the state legislative council from Graduate constituency between 1985-1995
He was a Revenue minister in Nitish Kumar cabinet
