A male of middle age has been killed by a wild elephant in the Goalpara district of Assam.

The incident occurred in a village near the town of Krishnai in the Goalpara district of Assam.

Tuesday, June 20th, a herd of wild elephants wandered into the village in quest of food.

The elephants went on a rampage, demolishing the villagers’ homes and other property.

Halendra Marak, age 45, has been identified as the deceased individual.

Marak stumbled into the path of a feral tusker and was trampled to death as he attempted to flee.

In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the number of man-elephant conflicts in Assam.
