Try out these Ayurvedic drink recipes to boost your immunity this monsoon

Ayurveda has been one of the most prominent parts of India in the health department. The traditional Indian system of medicine is in practice for some 3,000 years and has now gained popularity even in different parts of the world.

Given the COVID-19 situation, Ayurveda has a lot to offer to boost your immunity. There are several beverages that are suggested to push your immunity. The principles of Ayurveda suggest that the way you choose to drink water also affects your overall health.

Most of the Ayurveda herbal drinks can be prepared at home. However, you must get your hands only on quality-grown ingredients. The preparation process matters as well.

Here are some Ayurveda beverages recipe to boost your immunity this monsoon:

Fenugreek Water:

Drinking fenugreek or methi water will keep you full for long. Methi is packed with fiber which gives you a feeling of fullness. This helps you manage your weight. When you feel full, you don’t eat many calories and also prevents you from bingeing on unhealthy snacks. It also prevents bloating.

Preparation:

  • In a pan, add fenugreek seeds. Roast these seeds and take off flame.
  • Now in a blender, add these seeds and turn into a fine powder.
  • In a glass of warm water, add 1 tsp of fenugreek powder and mix.

Golden Turmeric Milk:

All the research that has been done in the west has reiterated what the ancient Indian civilisation knew all along-that turmeric contains compounds with a host of medicinal properties. Curcumin, the main active component in turmeric has powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiageing, antiseptic, and antibiotic properties.

Preparation:

  • Take a glass of hot milk.
  • Add sugar as per requirement.
  • Add golden turmeric and mix.

Kadha:

Kadha is an Ayurvedic drink including herbs and spices which are typically boiled in water for a length of time, allowing all of the medicinal benefits to be extracted. Kadha is especially helpful during the Vata, or cold and dry season when allergies can arise.

Preparation:

  • In a pot, add cardamom, cinnamon, dried ginger, and black pepper in water.
  • Boil the content until about 1 cup of solution is left.
  • If you choose to add honey, add before consuming when liquid is warm but not too hot to drink.

Pitta Tea:

According to the principles of Ayurveda, pitta is responsible for digestion, metabolism, immune function, and energy production. To balance pitta energy, practitioners of Ayurveda often recommend a diet of foods and beverages that are believed to be cool or pacifying in nature.

Preparation:

  • Mix the cumin seeds, coriander, fennel, cilantro, and rose petals.
  • Add the boiling water.
  • Steep for five minutes, covered.
  • Strain and discard and herbs and spices and serve cool, lukewarm, or at room temperature.
