In an appalling incident, a techie and her friend were arrested from Port Blair for killing her mother. The woman has confessed that the motive was that she had run up a huge debt and didn’t want her brother and mother to be harassed by the creditors.
The woman techie identified as C Amruta (33) said that initially, she had planned that she would kill her mother and brother before committing suicide as she had a debt of Rs15 lakh. But after killing them, she couldn’t kill herself and decided to flee from the city along with her boyfriend, Sridhar Rao (28).
The police said that the couple was in a live-in relationship and they have booked a ticket for Andaman and Nicobar Island on January 31.
According to media reports, around 4:30 am, she hacked her mother, Nirmala, to death and stabbed her brother, C Harish, on his neck before fleeing with Sridhar who was waiting on a bike near her house. Sridhar told the police he was unaware of the murder and only learnt about it after the two landed in Port Blair.
The source said to a media portal Rao is pursuing an MBA in correspondence and was involved in a road accident in 2017, which killed three.
The report also added Amruta took the loan to help him as he had to often appear before the court and the police. Police said that they are questioning the two to get more clarity about the incident as Rao is still maintaining that he was not involved in the murder.
The police have seized a murder weapon from the house and bike from the airport parking lot.
