Bengaluru: Two traffic cops booked 217 motorists of 515 violations

On Wednesday, a two-member police team from Fraser town headed by an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) booked 515 cases of traffic violations against 217 motorists in 15 hours and collected Rs 1,00,600 as fine.

Police sources mentioned, ASI Prabhuswamy and constable Yakkanna Biradar started their drive on crackdown from 7 am, they caught motorists flouting rules on Tannery Road and Pottery Road and booked cases till 10 pm.

Fraser Town Inspector Rao Ganesh Janardhan said this is the highest number of cases booked by a Bengaluru traffic police ASI in one day.

Rao claimed Prabhuswamy and Yakkanna dedicated the whole day to the drive without taking any rest.

Former ASI Raghavendra, from the same police station, have a record of booking as many as 327 cases against 168 motorists on February 27 this year and collected Rs 60,000 as fine.

ASI Suresh and constable Manjunath said that an incident happened, they were booking cases near Clarence School Junction around 1.30 pm. A biker was riding without a helmet and policemen tried to flag him down. But the biker pulled out a dagger and threatened the staff if they tried to stop him and sped away in the wrong direction on the one-way road,” a police officer said.
