Bihar: Polling booth setup inside public toilet, voters agitated

It is common to have polling stations setup inside schools, colleges or government buildings. However, the recent reports from Bihar’s Munger Lok Sabha constituency suggest that the polling booth no. 167 was setup not inside a school or college, but inside a public toilet.

The reported public toilet is situated at flood-affected Munger and is used as lavatory throughout the years. However, as soon as the elections arrive, the place is turned into a polling booth.

A regional news website Kashish News in its report claimed that this is not the first time. The voters have complained for the same in the past however no measures have been yet.

Agitated voters have asked the concerning authorities to change the polling booth to a better place but see no help arriving which has further irked them.

Munger – one of the constituencies in 40-seat Bihar – is currently held by Veena Devi of LJP. In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Veena Devi beat Rajiv Ranjan Singh Alias Lalan Singh of JD (U) by receiving 38.60% per cent of the votes cast in this constituency. The key candidates in the Munger constituency for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are Rajiv Ranjan Singh of JD (U) and Nilam Devi of Congress.
