A CRPF constable strangled his wife to death in Chhattisgarh‘s Jagdalpur city after she reportedly tried to stop him from going on Lok Sabha election duty.

The accused, Constable Guruveer Singh, belonging to CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), tried to pass off the murder of his wife Anupriya Gautam as a suicide, but was arrested Tuesday after investigation.

As per the reports, the couple had an argument on March 16 over Singh going for election duty in Bijapur district after which Singh then strangled his wife. The senior officials said the constable then informed Nagarnar Police that his wife had committed suicide and tried to mislead them.

It was discovered that Singh was lying after the post-mortem report. The gathered evidence also indicated his involvement in the crime.
