Chhattisgarh Election 2023

Chhattisgarh Election 2023: The five states that are going to vote in November are all BJP strongholds. The Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government is facing a fierce campaign from the BJP. In terms of seat share and voter turnout in the last assembly election and bypoll, Chhattisgarh is the only one of the five states where Congress has a comfortable lead.

The Congress and the BJP have been in power in Chhattisgarh for a long time. The AAP, on the other hand, is a new party that ran for office for the first time in 2018.

WHAT MATTER TO VOTERS IN THE CHHATTISGARH ELECTION 2023?

A lot of the Congress’s hopes are riding on how well-liked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is. Baghel made a big announcement when he said that if Congress wins again, his party will forgive farmers’ loans. In 2018, the Baghel government said it would keep its word and forgive the loans of 18.82 lakh farmers in the state, totaling Rs 9,270 crore.

The BJP has many charges against the Congress government in Chhattisgarh, such as religion conversion, corruption, and violence. Several scams have come to light before the election, which the BJP says is their major issue in the state. Union Minister Amit Shah says that the Congress government in the state is involved in several scams and has taken money from the central government to help the Congress party in Delhi.

Political Parties and Alliances

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have always been in charge of politics in Chhattisgarh. In the 2018 elections, however, the state saw the rise of a third party when the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J), led by the late chief minister Ajit Jogi, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ran together and won seven seats.

This time, the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has put forward candidates for 45 places, giving the ruling Congress a strong opponent.

Constituencies and Key Contests

The BJP has announced its candidates for 86 seats, while the Congress has named its candidates for all 90 seats.

These are some of the most important places up for election in the assembly:

Rajnandgaon:

Raman Singh, who used to be chief minister, is currently in office. In the 2018 elections, Karuna Shukla ran for Congress. He quit the BJP and joined the Congress party. Girish Dewangan, a leader in the Congress party and the chairman of the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation, has also been put up against Raman Singh.

Ambikapur:

Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Deo currently holds this seat, which is mostly made up of tribal people. He is also a foe of Bhupesh Baghel in the Congress party.

 Konta:
