An non-governmental organization filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday, opposing the State Bank of India’s (SBI) request for an extension of time till June 30 to reveal the specifics of every election bond that political parties have cashed.

Prashant Bhushan, a lawyer who appeared in court on behalf of the non-profit Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), said that he was seeking the start of contempt proceedings in the case. The bench, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, noted his submissions.

According to Bhushan, the contempt application should be heard concurrently with the SBI’s plea, which is anticipated to be listed on March 11.

Kindly send an email. “I’ll give the order,” the CJI declared.

On March 4, the SBI filed a motion with the Supreme Court requesting an extension until June 30th for the release of election bond details.

The top court ordered the SBI to provide the information to the Election Commission (EC) by March 6 in its ruling last month.
