The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is going on full swing and it has reached its second phase today. Amid all this, the dynamic social media trends are being flooded all over and in this case, it becomes difficult for the users to differentiate between the real or fake stories.
This one a recent example of a fake story that was doing rounds on social media. News of Google CEO Sundar Pichai casting vote in Tamil Nadu raked in on Thursday but there was no truth to the news that was spreading like a fire on the Internet.
An hour after polling began on April 18, a post about the CEO started pouring and majorly the post included a picture of the Google CEO surrounded by people. The posts said that he had cast vote in Tamil Nadu. It might have been an attempt to encourage voting but the matter of the fact is that news of the CEO voting is purely FAKE.
The truth behind the picture is that Sundar Pichai visited his alma mater IIT Kharagpur in West Bengal in 2017. The Google CEO was born and raised in Tamil Nadu and when he visited his college back then, he shared a couple of pictures on his Twitter handle.
Also got to visit my alma mater (and old dorm room!) for the first time in 23 years. Thanks to everyone @IITKgp for the warm welcome! pic.twitter.com/OUn7mlKGI7

The fact that remains is that India does not allow people holding dual citizenships to cast their vote in any Indian elections.
