In an appalling incident, the police on Wednesday arrested a man who is accused of promising marriage to a woman and faking a divorce story to have a physical relationship with her.
As per the reports, the accused came in contact with the woman after her husband died in 2015. He allegedly told the woman that he had filed a divorce with his wife and would marry her and take care of her children. The woman alleged that he trusted the accused but later found he lied to her.
A police official told that the accused, Vijender Singh who is a resident of Karnal district had been arrested. The woman also alleged that the accused followed her to and from her workplace for 15 days and then came to her home on January 30 this year. She has said that two developed a physical relationship and every time she asked him about his wife, the accused would ignore her.
Later one day the woman visited his home and found out that he was living with his wife and there was no divorce case. The accused however offered the woman to live with him but she told that she would lodge a police complaint against him. In return, the accused threatened to kill her.
The PRO of Kurukshetra police station said that the complaint was filed by the woman on Monday. The accused was presented before the court on Wednesday and was ordered remand in the judicial custody.
