Indian Railways Seat Upgrade: To help more people travel easily during the busy months of August and September, Indian Railways is adding over 2.50 lakh extra seats. This big step is taken to make sure passengers don’t face long waitlists and can find seats without much trouble. Railways is doing this by adding more coaches and also running some trains for more trips on different routes across the country.
In many zones, special changes are being made to trains. North Western Railway’s CPRO, Shashi Kiran, said they have added around 121 coaches of different types in 46 train pairs to help manage the extra number of passengers. He also shared that they are adding 27 general coaches in 9 pairs of trains just for the Gogamedi Fair, which sees a lot of visitors every year, reported ETV Bharat.
Even North Eastern Railway is getting ready for the rush. Its CPRO, Pankaj Kumar Singh, said that 20 extra coaches will be added to some trains. These include two generator-cum-luggage vans and 18 air-conditioned third economy coaches.

This step is being taken to handle the rising number of people wanting to travel and also to promote this new semi-high-speed train service in Odisha. The upgraded train will now have 12 AC chair cars, two executive chair cars, and two crew coaches.
Special Trains for Festivals
Central Railway is also preparing for large groups of people traveling for religious reasons. They are starting 18 special trains that will run between Sainagar Shirdi and Tirupati during August and September. These trains will make it easier for people to visit Sai Baba’s shrine and Lord Venkateshwar’s temple. Along with that, 302 Ganpati special trains will also run.
