KPCC president K Sudhakaran is preparing to file a defamation lawsuit against CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan for making a libellous remark about him in a POCSO case involving the infamous fake-antique dealer Monson Mavunkal.
A week ago, MV Govindan disclosed to the media that K Sudhakaran was present when Monson Mavunkal sexually assaulted a minor girl at his home. He even remarked that Crime Branch would detain Sudhakaran for questioning if the victim provided a statement.
However, in a major embarrassment for CPM, the Crime Branch team investigating the case dismissed MV Govindan’s claims. These assertions were supported by data cited from a report published in the CPM’s mouthpiece Deshabhimani.
