B Harikumar, Kerala Deputy Superintendent of Police, who was accused of pushing Sanal Kumar, found dead at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. Harikumar’s body was found hanging from the ceiling. The body has been sent for post-mortem and an initial probe has been launched by the police.

A week before, the cop had allegedly pushed Sanal Kumar resulting in Kumar’s death. The accident led to protests in Neyyanttinkara, the region where Kumar lived. In the aftermath of Kumar’s death, a Sanal Kumar Action Council was formed with many activists taking part in it.

Harikumar had earlier been absconding after he was booked for murder. Mahin, a prime witness in the Sanal Kumar murder case, reported receiving death threats.

Sanal Kumar was an electrician from the Kodungavila region. The incident took place at around 9:45 PM on Monday when B Harikumar was visiting his friend Binu. While leaving, he found his vehicle’s path blocked by the Kumar’s car. Reportedly, B Harikumar then assaulted Sanal and threw him on the nearby road when a passing vehicle hit him. Sanal was taken to the Medical College Hospital where he died at around 11 PM.
