Ankit Kumar hailing from Bulandshahr, was recently booked under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code the accused applied ‘henna’ on his hair to look a centimeter tall in the physical test for the post of Sub Inspector.

Ankit, who is 1 cm short in height as per the exam requirements, applied a layer of henna and combed his hair in such a way so as to create an illusion of being taller.

Kumar had been trying to crack the exams for becoming a sub-inspector in the police. Although he had cleared the written exam he was unable to qualify for physical test for Police Recruitment because of his height.

So in a desperate attempt to fulfil his dreams and bag that dream job, he resorted to a desperate hack. However, his disillusionment didn’t really work with the police officers who not only disqualified him, but also ended up filing an FIR against him.

“According to norms, a person needs to be 168 cm tall to clear the physical test for recruitment as sub-inspector. When we were testing Kumar’s height with our machine – in which a metallic plate touches the head of an individual whose height is being measured – a gap was noticed between his hair and the plate, which otherwise does not happen. That is when we became doubtful and checked his hair to see what the matter was,” said Sanjeev Bajpair, the head of the physical test being conducted there.

During further interrogations, Kumar confessed to have used henna on purpose to appear taller.
