Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday permitted Border Roads Organization (BRO) to employ more than 11,800 workers from the state for several projects.

In a meeting held with BRO on Tuesday, DCs of Dumka have been appointed as nodal officers for the migrants recruitment process. The official Twitter handle of DC Dumka informing about the decision wrote on Twitter, “Jharkhand Govt will send its people to work for projects of Border Road Organisation. DCs have been made nodal officers for the recruitment process. Meeting was held with BRO & matters such as welfare of the workers, payment procedures & compensations were discussed @HemantSorenJMM”.

CM Soren said, “We are committed to the welfare of our workers and our tribal brothers have long served the nation and built its frontiers. We are ready to send our workers in the interest of national security but will not allow any compromise of their honour, welfare rights, benefits, and dignity”.

“National security is our priority and at the same time we have prioritised that the honour, dignity and rights of our workers are guaranteed while serving the nation,” he further added.

Jharkhand is among the states whose thousands of migrants have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and returned to their state. Moreover, the Jharkhand government has prepared a memorandum of understanding to be signed with the BRO to ensure the safety and a better deal for those who would go to work with the organisation.

The Jharkhand CM also shared the approval letter dated June 6 on Twitter along with portions of some other letters exchanged with the BRO, saying “we look forward to cooperation” from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to ensure compliance.
