Missing 6-year-old child found by Mumbai police's sniffer dog "Leo"

In a remarkable demonstration of canine skill, a sniffer dog of the Mumbai police’s Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad named Leo assisted the Police in locating a kidnapped 6-year-old child from the Ashok Nagar area of Andheri East, Mumbai. Although his family searched extensively, they were unable to locate him after the child left to play with friends but did not return home.

In response to the family’s inquiry, the Powai police station, which is located close to their residence, took the matter seriously, registered the case, and established a search team. Due to the lack of CCTV coverage in the area, which is a slum, the search was challenging.

However, with the aid of technical resources, covert informants, and locals, the Powai police launched a preliminary investigation.

As a way to expedite the search for the missing child, police called in a dog squad. The search operation was conducted based on the scent of the T-shirt that the child was wearing that day. After visiting the boy’s house, Leo led the police to the location of the child, who was found within the Ambedkar Garden, Ashok Tower area shortly thereafter. The child was safely returned to his family.
