A grade-IV policeman identified as Jawaharlal Behera was arrested and then suspended by police for allegedly molesting a class-8 girl. As per the reports, the arrested has been suspended from his service by SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas.
Several media reports claimed that a Class 8 girl was returning from tuition classes alone yesterday afternoon when the accused cop Behera attempted to misbehave by dragging her to a house and outraging her modesty. However, she managed to escape from the spot and brought the matter before her family members.
Acid attack on family for resisting molestation
When the family members and villagers got to know about the incident, they detained the accused, tied him to a tree and thrashed him black and blue for his wrongdoing. Later, Baripada Town police had reached the spot and rescued the cop from the villagers’ clutch.
A case was lodged against him under Section 354 and 506 of IPC and Section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
