Tips to avoid winter weight gain

Winter season seems bleak time for those who have made resolutions regarding weight-loss and set goals to have diet plans throughout the year. The cold weather interrupts your exercise routine, and make you feel hungry for fast food or for your comfort foods like mac and cheese, and can even send you on a mood roller coaster that can lead to overeating. Winters feel like an uphill battle as if you have to daily fight with your feelings of avoiding things that you like the most!

Winter is coming, hence, it is crucial to stay in shape and remain fit in this chilly season. So, if you guys are worried about winter weight gain then, here are a few easy tips and tricks so that you can stick to your wellness goals.

Therefore, read the following tips which will help you stay on track this winter season-

Avoid eating unhealthy

Eat more green vegetables instead of candy, cookies and pie which might taste amazing, but they probably won’t help you to stick to your goal if you eat them in excess.

Ensure that you are well hydrated with water which will help manage hunger and avoid mistaking thirst for food cravings.

Get plenty of sleep

According to the research, less sleep might increase your risk of weight gain by making you more likely to reach for higher-calorie foods. During winters, days get shorter and because of that, we sleep less. The changes to daylight hours impact our sleep. Sleeping in a pitch-black room and avoiding caffeine more before sleeping will not affect your sleep.

Daily workout

During chilly season no one likes to wake up early for exercise but this will ultimately help you to remain fit and in proper shape in any of the seasons. Therefore, exercise outside the box and join a new yoga studio or an indoor basketball or volleyball league so that it can keep your body active and healthy in winters.

Cut back on alcohol

Alcohol can add extra calories to your diet so avoiding it is a must in winters. Moreover, alcohol has been shown to spike insulin levels and when your blood sugar drops,  you’ll feel like hungry and get cravings and because of that, you might eat calorie-dense foods. So limit alcohol intake.
