The car moving at a speed of about 100 to 120 kilometres per hour, suddenly fell uncontrollably into the Kuwano River, breaking the railing of the bridge.

In a fatal accident, a family travelling from Uttarakhand to Bihar in a car has been killed on the Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway at 2 PM on Wednesday. According to a report in Hindi daily, the car moving at a speed of about 100 to 120 kilometres per hour, suddenly fell uncontrollably into the Kuwano River, breaking the railing of the bridge.

While the husband, wife, and son died on the spot, two other boys in the car were severely injured and has been admitted to  Basti District Hospital. Their condition is reported to be critical.

The family from Rudrapur district of Uttarakhand was travelling to Motihari in Bihar for the son’s admission to MBBS. As soon as the incident was reported, SP and other senior police officers of Basti reached the spot.

As per the reports, Imtiaz (52) who hailed from Mohammadpur village of Thana Udaijha in Moti Hari district of Bihar, was employed in a private company in Rudrapur district of Uttarakhand. His son Faiz Mohammad (20) had to undergo admission to MBBS. Besides Faiz and Imtiaz in the car, his wife, Meraj Khatun (43) and two brothers Iqbal and Aamir Iqbal were also there. Iqbal and Aamir are residing in the Bairagharia police station area of Sitamarhi district of Bihar. According to Iqbal, Faiz was driving the car.
