A criminal wanted in over two and a half dozen instances was apprehended in Rajgir, Bihar, according to a top police officer on Sunday.
Harish Singh alias Chotu Singh, a member of the notorious Akhilesh Singh gang, was arrested from a hotel in Rajgir on Saturday by a police squad led by SP (City) Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, SSP Kishore Kaushal said during a press conference here.
According to the SSP, 30 criminal cases were filed against Singh under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act, including murder and criminal conspiracy, at various police stations in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts, with a Rs 40,000 bounty on his head.
According to Kaushal, a special squad lead by Lunayat was formed after getting evidence that Singh and his aides had been intimidating businessmen for money for the past few days.
According to the SSP, Singh attempted to mislead police with his bogus Aadhaar cards after his arrest but failed. The police seized four smartphones and two fake Aadhaar cards. According to Kaushal, Singh was taken here on transit remand from Rajgir.
