COVID-19 cases in Bihar is rising gradually. All 38 districts of Bihar is infected by coronavirus now. With 53 new coronavirus positive cases, Bihar COVID-19 case surged to 1495 on Monday. The death toll stands at 8. Capital city Patna has been declared as coronavirus hotspot zone.
1070 migrant workers have returned to Bihar from Delhi on Monday. 24% out of these workers have been found coronavirus positive. As migrants are coming back to the state from other different states, the coronavirus cases are increasing in Bihar.
As per the latest update by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 475 patients have been cured and discharged in the state, while eight deaths have been reported so far due to the infection.
According to reports, Bihar administration’s door-to-door screening for COVID-19 in four districts in the state are skipping entire households and conducting incomplete interviews. On April 15, the Bihar government started door-to-door screening in four cities – Nalanda, Nawada, Siwan and Begusarai. By May 2, the state claimed to have completed screening in six of the state’s 38 districts.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus survivours are facing social boycott in Bihar. Gautam Kumar, a resident of Nadlal Chhapra locality in Patna, is facing hard times as vegetable sellers, grocery shop owners, barbers and even cleaning staff members are maintaining a distance from his family. The result is that he has had to travel far to buy essential commodities for his household. 36-year-old Mohammad Jumman, who is being addressed as “Yamraj” (lord of death) by his neighbours. The neighbours have also stopped visiting his ration shop that located in Jamalpur town of Munger district fearing that goods collected from his shop could leave them infected with coronavirus.

A 15-year-old Jyoti, cycled almost 1,200 kilometres to get her injured father from Delhi to Darbhanga, Bihar. This father-daughter duo started their journey on May 10, when they were unable to pay Rs 6000 bus rent to take them home. They both completed their journey on May 16 and reached Darbhanga.

In a horrifying accident in Naugachia in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, 9 migrant labourers died and several others have been injured after a bus carrying migrant laborers from Darbhanga to Banka collided with a truck loaded with pipes. The incident took place in the early morning on Tuesday.
A 75-year-old coronavirus positive woman died in Bihar taking the death toll to 9. The woman was also battling advanced stage of lunch cancer.
Bihar has conducted 48,000 coronavirus tests so far. 499 people have been recovered and the death toll stands at 8 till date.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announced to give 5kgs of free rice to all the migrant workers. Free rice will be distributed from 10 am to 2 pm everyday at PDS(Public Distribution Service) shops.
As per the reports, 457 coronavirus patients out of 1326 have been recovered till date.
