While the country fights for increasing petrol and diesel prices under Modi governance, a minister in Vasundhara Raje‘s cabinet has laid the blame for the crisis on the citizens themselves. Rrajkumar Rinwa, a BJP worker from Rajasthan proposes to the citizens to cut own their fuel consumption in order to reduce their expenses over fuel.

To everybody’s shock, Rinwa said that that people should understand that petrol and diesel prices are tied to the crude oil price in the world market.

“Fuel prices are tied to crude oil prices in the world market. The government is working hard to bring down the prices. There is so much expenditure, floods all over, and consumption…public don’t understand that if crude prices are high, they should reduce their other expenses,” said the three time MLA from the Ratangarh Assembly constituency.

Further, Rinwa said the Narendra Modi government is leaving no stone unturned to minimise the burden on the common people. However, he added, the consumers should also make adjustments at a time when global circumstances are responsible for the price rise.

The remarks came amid the nationwide protest held by Congress and 20 other opposition parties. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has called the shutdown against the rising fuel prices, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence over the many concerns including Rupee value, fuel prices and Rafale deal.

Since mid August, petrol prices have been marked up by Rs 3.24 a litre and diesel by Rs 3.74 per litre, as the rupee hit record lows against the US dollar, making petroleum imports costlier.
