So, the only day on which the bank will be opened is Friday, 12th March 2021. Many bank employees can also go on leave due to long vacations. You may have to wait a long time on Friday at the branch to get your bank work done.
Reason for the Strike:
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced privatisation of two public sector banks and a public insurance company in the budget presented for the forthcoming financial year. This privatisation will be in the financial year 2021-22.
The bank unions are opposing this privatisation. That is why the Union of bank employees and officers has been given the notice to go on strike on the next 15 and 16 March. This strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). This includes organizations of employees and officers. Rural banks are also participating in this strike which is called by PSU banks.
