Coimbatore: Pregnant lady dies after woman posing as doctor gives wrong medication

In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman suddenly dies after a woman who posed as a doctor gave the wrong medication. The police had arrested the woman who posed to be the doctor. It is suspected that because of her the pregnant lady died.

The accused has been identified as Muthulaxmi. She had allegedly given the wrong injection to the deceased. She was helped by her son. Two days after the wrong injection was given to her, she passed away.

The deceased who was a daily wage laborer had approached the woman upon learning that she was five months pregnant. She wanted to abort the child.

The deceased was taken to the Pollachi Hospital after the wrong injection was given to her. She died during the course of the treatment. To probe the incident, a joint team was formed.

As per a media report, the police team has seized syringes and needles from the hospital run by the accused.  The accused woman has been running the ayurvedic clinic for 15 years. The accused had also escaped a raid in 2018 by health department by locking her clinic and absconding. However, the clinic was reopened a few months ago.

The accused was arrested from her friend’s residence where she was seeking shelter. Following her arrest, another team was formed to search for her absconding son.

A similar incident occurred, where a doctor from Mumbai was accused of diagnosing patients and administering medicines to them. He used the identity of another doctor to run his clinic.
