Coronavirus in Bihar: 12 deaths reported in last 24 hours, death toll reaches 674

In Bihar, 12 people succumbed to the deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the health department bulletin revealed. With this, the death toll of the state has risen to 674.

Bihar’s COVID-19 tally reached 1,30,848 on Friday, as per the data released by the health department. The recovery rate of coronavirus patients in Bihar has reached 85.94%, while the national average is 76.50%. The total number of active cases touched 17,728.

According to the microbiology department of the first COVID-dedicated hospital of Bihar, Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, on Friday 75 samples were collected by the department out of which 7 people were found positive.

On Thursday, 1,05,766 samples were tested, with 1,998 were reported to be positive. Therefore, the positive rate is 1.89%, while the national average has again risen to more than 9%.

With 296 fresh cases reported on Thursday, the capital city, Patna remains to be the worst-hit by COVID-19. While 83 positive cases in Araria, 47 in West Champaran, 88 in Kishanganj, 86 in Muzaffarpur, 69 in Madhubani, 121 in Bhagalpur, 83 in Saran and 36 in Gaya have been reported.

Meanwhile, 7 people died due to COVID in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna on Friday.

With India reporting 76,472 cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country crossed the 34 lakh mark to reach 34,63,973 on Saturday. This is the third consecutive day when over 70,000 cases have been recorded in India. Also, with as many as 1,021 deaths in the same period, the country’s toll has reached 62,500.

As per the latest data by the health ministry, active cases stand at 7,52,424 and the number of recovered patients is now 26,48,999. Meanwhile, the cumulative tests for detection of COVID-19 have reached close to 4 crores in the country. India has tested more than 9 lakh samples for the second consecutive day, the health ministry said.
