Delhi Assembly Polls 2020: Here’s how you can vote without having voter ID card

Once a voter is eligible to vote and has access to voter slip, he/she can vote by using an authorised photo ID card.

In a democracy, the right to vote is an essential element of citizen’s rights. An electoral franchise only strengthens participatory democracy by allowing its common man’s concern to be aired in the Indian legislature. Keeping this in mind, every election is important for voters.

Delhi Assembly polls are to be held on February 8, the voters must be sure about their exercise of the franchise.

One should have an idea that without a Voter ID card, you can vote in the elections. For that, one must check your name in the electoral roll.

Various online and offline options provided by the Election Commission for enrollment in the electoral roll. You can fill out the form online. You can also find your name without having an EPIC number of Voter ID card. To confirm your electoral roll, you can visit the website or can access it through a mobile app.

Once one is done to check one’s name in the electoral roll, one can actually vote without having the Voter ID card. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved the documents which the voters can use in order to vote in this election.

Once a voter is eligible to vote and has access to voter slip, he/she can vote by using an authorised photo ID card.

The authorised documents which a voter can use when he/she doesn’t have Voter ID card are as follows:

  •  Passport
  •  Driving licence
  •  Any service identity card issued by central or state government, PSU and public limited company
  •  State Bank passbook with photograph
  •  Smart card issued by RGI under NPR
  •  PAN Card
  •  MGNREGA Job card
  •  Health Insurance card issued under scheme of Ministry of Labour
  •  Pension document with photograph
  •  Official ID card issued by MP/MLA etc
  • Aadhar Card
