Delhi police bursts mobile theft gang, two arrested

Delhi Police has arrested two members of the Inter-state gang from Dwarka over involvement in mobiles snatching. 141 mobile phones have been recovered from them and of these total, 21 mobile phone theft reports are registered in different police stations of Delhi-NCR. The accused identified as Dheeraj Bansari (36) and Vinay Talreja (30) used to visit Delhi in every 15-20 days to procure stolen mobile phones from Gaffar market, Karol Bagh market and a few areas of Dwarka.

“We had received information about two men actively purchasing stolen mobile phones from the snatchers and pickpocketers in the city. We had deployed teams in their pursuit,” said Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dwarka. Both accused are school dropouts and own mobile shops in Dollar market in Indore. Accused were used to change IMEI numbers of mobiles and sell them in Indore.

“An on spot checking revealed that accused were carrying 141 stolen mobile phones, which they had procured from Gaffar Market and Karol Bagh market. We are searching for the gang with which the duo had come to strike a deal with,” added Alphonse.
