Elections for nine vacant seats in the Bihar Legislative Council will be held on July 6: Election Commission of India

The Election Commission of India on Monday has announced the elections for nine vacant seat in the Bihar Legislative Council to be held on July 6. The term of current assembly elected in 2015 will expire on 29 November 2020.

A press note released by the Election Commission of India stated that the biennial election to the Bihar Legislative Council by members of Legislative Assembly has been decided after receiving inputs from CEO, Bihar.

According to the Commission, the issue of notification is on June 18, and the last date of making nominations is on June 25. On the following day, June 26, scrutiny of nominations will take place. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 29. July 8 is the date before which election procedure shall be completed.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been using the virtual outreach programme of his party the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) for the build-up to the forthcoming election, when he would seek his seventh term since 2005.
