Of late, there have been numerous incidents in the country, where cow-related violence came to light. Cow lynchings came out as a much-hyped issue by the Centre and they made it obvious that any such violence will not be tolerated in the country. On Friday, at least 200 cows died in a gaushala in Rajpur in Chattisgarh. Ironically, this gaushala is run by a Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) leader, Harish Verma, whose very party claims to be the so-called ‘gau rakshas’.

Moreover, Verma denied the charges that were alleged against him. Ever since the incident took place, #CowKilerBJP has been trending on microblogging site Twitter. People are expressing all sorts of concerns and criticisms about the unfortunate deaths of cows across the country.

Late on Friday, Dhamda block sub-divisional magistrate, Rajesh Patre, visited the cow shelter and confirmed the deaths. According to him, the cows died either due to starvation or lack of proper care.

These tweets depict the outrage that the incident has caused among the people.
