In the 7th and last phase of Lok Sabha polling, 13 seats each in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, nine in West Bengal, eight seats each in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, all four constituencies in Himachal Pradesh, three in Jharkhand and one seat in the Union Territory of Chandigarh will witness the polling.

The fate of 918 candidates, including Shatrughan Sinha, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sunny Deol, Kirron Kher and Misa Bharti will be decided today.

The counting of votes will take place on May 23.

06:00 PM | 67.37% voter turn-out in seven-phased elections

At a press conference, the Election Commission said a voter turnout of 67.37 percent was recorded across the seven-phased mammoth electoral exercise thattook place in 542 parliamentary constituencies across states and Union Territories.

The poll panel said that a total of 7.27 crore voters took part in elections of which 3.47 crore were women and 3,377 were persons of third gender.

12:10 PM | Two govt employees on poll duty die in Madhya Pradesh

Two government employees engaged in election duty died in separate incidents in Madhya Pradesh, an official said on Sunday. Garu Singh Chogad, who was deployed at the Jalwat polling booth in Dhar Lok Sabha constituency, died after suffering a heart failure on Sunday morning.


11:40 AM | Uttar Pradesh: Gas cylinder catches fire at Sakaldiha polling booth

A LPG cylinder caught fire at booth number 237/238 at Sakaldiha in Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened while food was being prepared and due to gas leakage. The fire was doused in 15 minutes with the efforts of locals.


11:30 AM | Bihar: One Police officer injured as 3 assault cops at polling booth

Three people assaulted police officers at booth number 67 in Bhabhua of Sasaram in Bihar. One police officer was injured. Voting was halted for an hour. The Kaimur SP has confirmed arrest of criminals.
