A Mumbai based actress has lodged a complaint against a 28-year-old engineer who has been booked fro defaming and sexually harassing her. The accused created a fake account on a photo sharing application in the actress name and posted photos of her. He also posed as her in engaged obscene chats with random men on the social media platform.
As per the police, the actress approached them on June 11 to lodge the complaint and alleged that a distant relative of hers was sexually harassing her. She told them that the accused is an engineer and the his address was given to the police.
According to the allegations, the woman received a phone call from a male friend who told her about the obscene chats on social media featuring her name and photos. The actress told that she never created the profile on the app as she opted for other social media platform instead.
The friend had also informed her that two phone numbers were being shared and the person posing her was making sexual advances towards men.
The actress has recognized one of the phone numbers shared as her old contact number which she has stopped using. The other number she said belonged to her distant relative.
The actress has said that the uploaded photos on the fake account were given to the same relative as he had promised to look for acting assignments for her.
The woman called her relative and confronted him about the photos and contact number. He confessed to the crime and said he had made a mistake.
An FIR had been registered under the relevant section of IPC and section of Information Technology
