Next assembly polls: According to former chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, the next assembly elections will be the last chance to free Sikkim from the “misrule” of the SKM. He urged SDF members to remain unified and engage voters in every seat. At a local event, Chamling stated, “We must make sure that the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) wins so that our state is saved.”

In Sikkim, legislative elections are scheduled for late 2023 or early 2024. The next assembly elections may be the last chance to free Sikkim from the misrule of the Prem Singh Tamang administration.

To defeat the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), the state’s ruling party, will require a tremendous team effort. There isn’t much time for preparation, so party members need to go out and talk to voters in their areas about the problems the state is facing, according to Chamling.

Bhaichung Bhutia, the president of the Hamro Sikkim Party and a legend in Indian football, did not join the SDF on Tuesday as had been previously reported.

Although the modalities were still being worked out, SDF leaders indicated the merger of HSP and the party was “certain”.
