CS Raazen Ekka, an individual with a medical degree, assumed the responsibilities of a physician at the hospital in response to patient complaints regarding the absence of medical staff for several days.

The incident highlighted the appalling conditions that exist in government healthcare facilities in Rajgangpur, a region that is primarily home to tribal communities. However, patients praised the lawmaker for his benevolent action. A considerable number of individuals were observed seeking health examinations at the health center.

The patients contended that although the state government boasts of incorporating health services into the 5T initiative, thereby transforming them, the actual situation is quite dissimilar.

MLA for the Congress, Ekka, stated to the press, “I believe we are falling short in our provision of fundamental health services for the public. I had prior experience working as a medical officer. I have not visited a physician in the past three to four days. Consequently, I assumed the duty of attending to patients during the lack of medical professionals.

“The health department should have looked after the patients. It is their responsibility. But if they fail, being the local MLA and a doctor at the same time, I came forward to see patients at the hospital,” he added.

Officials from the health department were not reachable for comment on this matter.
