Uttar Pradesh: FIR against Bulandshahr shopkeeper for selling shoes with ‘Thakur’ written on it

An FIR was registered against shopkeeper and an unidentified company in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr for selling shoes with “Thakur” written on the sole. The complaint was registered under sections 153-A, 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The shopkeeper was identified as Nasir.

According to a report by Dainik Jagran, Bajrang Dal leader Vishal Chauhan on Monday visited a shop on GT Road to buy a pair of shoe. While looking for shoes, he saw “Thakur” was written on the sole of most of the footwear. When he protested this, the shopkeeper assaulted him, the report said.

Based on Chauhan’s complaint, Police arrested Nasir and registered a complaint against the shoe company. “In the said case, the police station Gulavathi has registered case under relevant sections. The accused named in the indictment is in police custody and investigation is underway,” Bulandshahr Police tweeted.

Last week, an SUV in Kanpur was fined Rs 2000 for displaying caste identity. According to reports, a man was issued a challan for writing “Kushwaha” and “Akhil Bharatiya Maurya Mahasabha” on his vehicle.

“We issued a challan, the first in the city, to an SUV owner which had ‘Kushwaha’ and ‘Akhil Bharatiya Maurya Mahasabha’ painted on its rear windscreen. The vehicle, bearing registration number of Kanpur, belongs to one Anil Kumar. We have also fined the SUV owner for Rs 2000,” inspector Sanjiv Kant Mishra said.
