Woman burnt alive in Chhattisgarh for protesting rape, condition critical

The 28-year-old victim has been admitted to hospital for treatment. She has been referred to higher hospital in critical condition after primary treatment was given.

In an appalling incident from Chhattisgarh, a woman was burnt alive in Korba district for protesting rape. The victim has contained 53% burns. However, the police have arrested 3 accused in the case.

The 28-year-old victim has been admitted to hospital for treatment. She has been referred to higher hospital in critical condition after primary treatment was given.

According to information received from Korba police, a woman was reported to have been burnt alive in the Morga police outpost area of Padi block. After getting the information, post-charge Ashok Pandey arrived at the site. It was revealed that the young man arrived at the victim’s house last Wednesday night and tried to rape her.

The victim, who lived with her husband and child, was alone in the house at the time of the incident. On opposing the rape, the youths put kerosene on the woman and burned her alive.

People in the vicinity heard the woman’s voice and informed the police of the incident. The police then rushed to the spot. The police launched an investigation to nab the accused.

Talking to media, Korba SP Abhishek Meena said, the police have arrested three accused after investigation into the case. These include Sharad Christ, Pritam Pankara and Saroj Kumar. Shivnarayan and another accused are being searched.

The police is investigating the matter and the arrest of the accused was made on Thursday after a detailed interrogation. He has confessed his guilt to the police.
