Gujarat: 500 Metre area around Somnath, Ambaji Temples to be “Veg Zone”

On Friday, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani while addressing people at a cultural event organised in Palanpur, Banaskantha declared that 500-metre area around Somnath and Ambaji temples as vegetarian zones.

The decision means that no non-vegetarian food could be sold around the premises of the two temples.

In his address, Rupani said, “I hereby declare a 500-metre area surrounding the pilgrimage places, Somnath and Ambaji, as vegetarian zones. From now on, there will be a total ban on selling non-vegetarian food in these areas”

Chief Minister also announced an increment in financial assistance from Rs 25 to Rs 35 per cattle to all panjrapols in 96 drought-hit areas mostly in Kutch and Banaskantha districts from February till June, as reported by the Indian Express.
