A bizarre incident has sent a shockwave across Assam, a massive fire broke out on the Burhi Dihing river in Assam’s Dibrugarh district allegedly due to an oil pipeline blast. The fire has not been doused yet. Huge flames had surrounded the area in the past few days.
The fire occurred on Burhi Dihing river at Digholibil area near Sasoni village of Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district due to an alleged oil pipeline blast.
As per the Locals talking to media, crude oil from Oil India Limited, Duliajan plant came in a water pipe that was connected with the river. Villagers suspected that some miscreants set to fire after the crude oil came into the river.
Due to the fire, a thick layer of smoke engulfed the area near Sasoni village of Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district. The video of the fire on Burhi Dihing river has also surfaced on social media. In the video, it could be seen that huge flames have surrounded that area. The fire on the river led to panic among the villagers.

According to the reports, villagers had noticed the fire on the river around three days ago and had informed the local administration. However, the authorities have not done anything to douse the flames and control the situation so far. The fire has led to panic among the locals.
