Coronavirus in Bihar: Death toll reaches 728, recovery rate 87.91%

More than 100 corona-infected were found in five districts of the state- Patna, Araria, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, and Muzaffarpur.

Coronavirus Outbreak: India registers 56,211 fresh COVID-19 cases

Bihar registered a record spike of 1,922 cases of Thursday, taking the total number of infections tally to 1,42,156. Active cases in the state are 16,451 while the recovery rate touched 87.91%. 728 deaths have been registered in Bihar so far, as per the bulletin released by the state health department.

More than 100 corona-infected were found in five districts of the state- Patna, Araria, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, and Muzaffarpur.

The capital city, Patna registered the highest 259 COVID-19 positive cases. 121 in Araria, 104 in Bhagalpur, 121 in Madhubani, and 113 new cases in Muzaffarpur were registered.

According to Bihar Health Department, 12 positive cases in Arwal, 69 in Aurangabad, 30 in Banka, 26 at Begusarai, 14 in Bhojpur, 22 in Buxar, 36 in Darbhanga, 81 in East Champaran, 59 in Gaya, 37 in Gopalganj, Jamui 26, 28 in Jahanabad, 46 in Kaimur, 21 in Khagaria, 50 in Kishanganj, 16 at Lakhisarai, 55 in Madhepura, 10 in Munger, 25 in Nalanda , 18 in Nawada, 67 in Purya, 33 in Rohtas, 58 in Saharsa, 46 in Samastipur, 54 in Saran, 10 in Sheikhpura, 16 in Shivhar, 48 in Sitamarhi, 29 in Siwan, 60 in Supaul, 13 in Vaishali and 41 infections in West Champaran were registered.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra remains the state hit hardest by the pandemic followed by three southern states – Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Maharashtra reported a record spike of 17,433 new cases, its highest single-day count so far, taking its tally to 8,25,739. The state also reported 292 fresh deaths, 34 of them in state capital Mumbai, pushing up the fatality count to 25,195.

India’s Covid-19 tally continued to rise on Thursday after over 83,000 fresh cases were registered, the highest single-day rise in cases so far. While the overall figure stood at 3,853,406, the death toll also increased from 66,333 to 67,376, according to latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
