The police apprehended and admitted the suspect to the hospital. She initially protested, but when she was unable to dissuade him, she grabbed a nearby razor and attacked his genitalia, partially severing it. As he lay in agony, the woman escaped his grasp and raised the alarm. Villagers raced to the crime scene, but the suspect had fled.

On Saturday, the SHO of Banka Town, Shambhu Yadav, told TOI that the suspect had been apprehended while the survivor of a rape was sent for medical examination. In a similar incident last month, a girl severed the genitalia of her lover, a CRPF jawan stationed in Chhattisgarh, at a hotel in Patna after learning that he was engaged to be married to another woman. According to the police, the girl summoned her fiancé to a city hotel under some pretext and severed his genitalia when he refused to call off their wedding, citing that he had to abide by the family’s decision. As nearly 60 percent of his genitalia had been severed, according to police, he remained in critical condition.
