In a shocking incident in Bihar, the state where COVID-19 cases are spiking up at a fast pace, a cultural event breaking the social distancing norm was organised at Bokana village in Bhagan Bigha police station area of Nalanda district. In the meantime, some people in the village danced with the bar girls waving a pistol in their hands.

According to the reports, the district magistrate of the area, Yogendra Singh was pre-informed about such an event. Thereafter, on the DM’s order, the local police went to the village for investigation. The police officials rebuked and returned without taking any serious action which increased the morale of the villagers.

The cultural event took place till midnight. Liquor mafias were also seen in the event, as per the reports. The villagers fiercely danced on obscene Bhojpuri songs.

The DSP Sanjay Kumar took cognizance of the matter and issued an order to expedite the notice after which the local police came under pressure from the preferred officers and reached the village. Moreover, some bottles of wine are also reported to have been recovered from the event site.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in Bihar have crossed the 27k mark. The Central team, which was on a visit to Patna to assess the state’s preparedness on coronavirus, has suggested increasing the number of hospital beds to keep pace with the rise in Covid-19 cases, as the tally reached 27,455 after 1,076 new infections were reported on Monday, with eight deaths taking the state’s death toll to 187.

The state is going through a complete lockdown that was implemented by CM Nitish Kumar from July 16 to July 31 to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
