IMD predicts heavy rain along the coast of Andhra Pradesh for next 2 days

Many locations over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and one or two locations over Rayalaseema saw light to moderate rainfall.

For the next couple of days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts more rain in coastal districts influenced by the South West Monsoon and high-velocity winds in coastal districts and the Rayalaseema region.

According to the IMD’s daily bulletin, the cyclonic circulation over the Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the north littoral of Odisha and West Bengal that extends up to 7.6 kilometres above mean sea level and tilts southwestwards with altitude continues. Within the next 24 hours, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region due to its influence. In the twenty-four hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, significant precipitation fell in isolated locations over the Krishna district of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Many locations over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and one or two locations over Rayalaseema saw light to moderate rainfall. Avanigadda of Krishna district received the most precipitation with 7 centimetres, followed by Repalle of Bapatla district with 6 centimetres, Santhamaguluru of the same district with 4 centimetres, Nuzvid of Eluru district with 3 centimetres, Nandigama of NTR district with 3 centimetres, and Amadaguru of Sri Satya Sai district with 3 centimetres.

From 8.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, rainfall in excess of 3 centimetres was recorded in Gurramkonda, Annamaih district, Routhulapudi, Kakinada district, Addateegala, Alluri Seetharama Raju, and Thondangi, Kakinada district.

AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) advised individuals not to seek shelter beneath trees when winds begin to speed up and the sky is cloudy, as lightning strikes and tree uprooting are more likely. In the meantime, isolated regions are expected to experience high-velocity winds over the next few days.
